I think I found some good songs

I think I found some good songs

I was hoping for some late summer jams, my wish was granted. Enter Tim & Jean, basically a Passion Pit clone (they might actually get a cease and desist order), but hey it’s 4 minutes of fun so who cares? I’ve also got some Euro club stompers in the mix, see: Zoot Woman and Titan. In order to fill that eclectic void in my blog I talk so often about, I added my favorite tracks off Third Eye Blind and the Arctic Monkeys latest discs.

Next week I’m planning on posting some retro hits that will bring you back to those great times you had at 7th grade dances!!!

For now please enjoy September’s first playlist:

Zoot Woman – Lonely by Your Side
Titan – Star-t (Night Drugs Remix)
Tim & Jean – Come Around
Third Eye Blind – Monotov’s Private Opera
Arctic Monkeys – Cornerstone

Super Sweet Jams

Yum

Yum

I posted a song by The xx a couple months ago called Crystalised. It was super ill, but I hadn’t heard much about them until my buddy Scherer gave me some of their new stuff. I would hazard a guess that these guys (and girls) will soon be a blog favorite. Maybe they already are. To go along with the xx, I’ve got a song from Delorean. I judged them way too quickly, Seasun is fantastic. Rounding it out is a song from Metric’s newly released album, a current Passion Pit favorite and this track M.A.G.I.C. which may have come out in January but I just heard it (totally sick). Hope you enjoy, here’s the playlist:

The xx – Stars
The xx – Infinity
Metric – Twilight Galaxy
Passion Pit – Live to Tell the Tale
Delorean – Seasun
The Sound of Arrows – M.A.G.I.C.

Definitely not a picture I took.

Definitely not a picture I took.

Here goes nothing. Thom Yorke, Flunk, Revolver, Gossip and a Fred Falke remix of Lykke Li (which I’m super late on I admit). The Thom Yorke song is outrageous, are you surprised? Hope these tracks make it onto your Saturday night playlist. Enjoy.

Thom Yorke – All For The Best /Mark Mulcahy Cover
Gossip – Four Letter Word
Lykke Li – I’m Good, I’m Gone (Fred Falke Remix)
Flunk – Common Sense
Revolver – Untitled #1

A Little Summer Playlist

Who am I to blow against the wind?

Who am I to blow against the wind?

Well it’s almost August and after the onslaught of Discovery and Passion Pit at the beginning of the summer, the talent level kind of fell off in the music world. I’m sure people would disagree with me there, but that’s what the comments section is for (try it sometime). Truthfully this playlist has been popping up in my head in various forms for the past couple weeks but I couldn’t find the track that tied it all together. Once I came across this beauty of a track everything fell into place. It’s a cover of This Must be the Place by Miles Fisher. I think any frat stars who read this blog may now be able to continue playing this song for another semester without getting tired of it. You’re welcome. My other tracks are equally dope when considered as a group. I’ve got some Fleetwood Mac, a little old school Paul Simon, Spoon’s latest, Vampire Weekend covering F. Mac and a totally chilled out new Kings of Convenience taken from my brother. If I might suggest a playlist order…:

Miles Fisher – This Must Be The Place
Spoon – Got Nuffin
Vampire Weekend – Everywhere (Fleetwood Mac Cover)
Paul Simon – I Know What I Know
Fleetwood Mac – Never Forget
Kings of Convenience – Mrs. Cold

Bugger

Bugger

Discovery was officially released yesterday and as much as I want to post the album, I’ll probably get yelled at by Rostam Batmanglij (seriously his name). Anyway, I haven’t got much to say about the tracks this week other than this is a truly eclectic mix of songs. Enjoy the Generationals. Here’s the list (tell me you’ve heard of more than one of these bands and I’ll be seriously impressed):

Team William – London Lofi
The Generationals – When They Fight, They Fight
Winter Gloves – Invisible
Florence & The Machine – Rabbit Heart (Raise It Up)

And this whole time I thought you were talking about the OTHER Stoop Daddy!

And this whole time I thought you were talking about the OTHER Stoop Daddy!

It goes without saying that I haven’t posted in a while….Now that we’ve established I wasn’t hooking everyone up with fresh tunes, I’ll just give a short reason for it: I hadn’t heard anything cool in almost 3 weeks. But we’re back ladies and gentleman; eclectic as ever.

I’m going to drop a full blown playlist on you. That doesn’t mean I’ll explain each song, it’s up to you to decide what it sounds like. I’ll just say “Ghosts” by Fanfarlo is completely off the hook. “Jona Vark” is also supremely dope if for no other reason than the title. And yeah, Cocorosie is really weird. Get over it. Well, here goes. Garrett’s comeback jams. Enjoy:

Fanfarlo – Ghosts
Booty Luv – Shine (Sidechains Remix)
Gypsy and the Cat – Jona Vark
Gypsy and the Cat – ‘Til Tomorrow
Trabant – The One (Black Ghosts Remix)
Black Moth Super Rainbow – The Sticky
Ian Brown – Keep What Ya Got
The Very Best – Warm Heart of Africa (ft. Vampire Weekend)
Cocorosie – Spirit Lake
Your Twenties – Billionaires

Quick Sunday Update

I screwed up in the last post and forgot to upload the Marina & The Diamonds song. Lucky for you, I also have two more songs which I think you’ll love. One is off Discovery’s upcoming album–it’s a cover version of Jackson 5 – I want you back…incredible. The other is an official Oasis remix of (Get off your) High Horse Lady by Devendra Banhart. Groovy. Hope you enjoy.

Oasis – (Get off your) High Horse Lady (Devendra Banhart Remix)
Discovery – I want you back
Marina & The Diamonds – I Am Not A Robot (Starsmith’s 24 Carat Remix)

Existing off red peppers and milk

Well the Duke (Stuart Price) is back to remixing hot indie tracks after a two year hiatus, that’s discounting the crap remix he did of Viva La Vida, and this can only mean good things for the summer (if it ever comes) ahead. I also came across crystalised by the xx, which can only be described as awesome. So please enjoy these tracks as you grind out the last two days of the week. The playlist:

The xx – Crystalised
Sneaky Sound System – It’s Not My Problem (Thin White Duke remix)
Sneaky Sound System – I Love It (Fred Falke Remix)
Friendly Fires – Jump In The Pool (Thin White Duke Remix)

Still, a band of two blind Malians (sp?) is pretty phenomenal. And so is this song.
